Part 2 of 2
Last month, we discussed tips on how to maintain your pool throughout the winter months. But what about your Heliocol Solar Pool system? Read on for some helpful recommendations!
Winter Heliocol Solar System Care
Protecting your Heliocol system investment is key to years of enjoyable swimming seasons. Winterizing your system is a smart choice and periodic inspections during the winter will ensure that you are preventing, and if necessary, addressing any damage that occurs. Here are the areas to keep an eye on:
Panel Inspection
The number one challenge in winter is freezing. Look for cracks, leaks, or loose connections in the panels and address any damage promptly to prevent further damage and wear.
Pipe Insulation
If you live in an area prone to freezing, then you probably wisely chose to insulate your Heliocol pipes. Check and verify the pipe insulation remains intact and replace deteriorating or missing insulation. Be sure to also check the pipe ends for debris, clearing any that you find.
System Valves
Ensure valves stay in the correct winterized position. Misaligned valves can lead to water collection which causes freezing or leaks.
Mounting Hardware
Check the mounting hardware for tightness. Secure any loose components to prevent wind and storm damage.
