Solar pool heating uses the sun’s energy to warm your pool water in a simple, efficient way. Your existing pool pump circulates water through a series of durable black solar panels, typically installed on your roof or another sunny area of your property.
Inside each panel are small water channels that absorb heat from the sun and transfer it to the pool water as it flows through. The warmed water then returns to your pool, gradually raising and maintaining a more comfortable swimming temperature.
An automatic controller monitors the water and solar-panel temperatures, sending water through the panels only when they can effectively add heat. Many systems can also circulate water through the panels at night to help cool an overly warm pool when outdoor conditions allow.
